Panorama Stitch Planner

How to Use the Panorama Stitch Planner

  1. Select your sensor format. Choose from presets like Full Frame, APS-C, Micro Four Thirds, or manually enter custom sensor dimensions.
  2. Enter your lens focal length (mm). Type in the focal length you’ll be using (e.g., 24mm, 50mm).
  3. Choose your camera orientation. Decide whether you’ll be shooting in landscape or portrait orientation — portrait is often preferred for multi-row panos.
  4. Enter your desired coverage. Input the horizontal and vertical field of view you want the final panorama to span (e.g., 120° × 60°).
  5. Set your overlap. Specify how much overlap you want between frames (commonly 25–35% horizontally and vertically).
  6. (Optional) Enter your camera’s megapixel count to estimate the final stitched resolution.
  7. Click Calculate. The tool will display:
    • Lens field of view for your chosen focal length.
    • Recommended yaw and pitch step angles.
    • Number of columns × rows required.
    • Total number of frames needed.
    • Approximate final megapixels of the stitched image.
  8. Use these results to program your pano head, gimbal, or simply guide handheld shooting.

Tip: For best results, use a panoramic head and rotate around the lens’s entrance pupil (nodal point) to avoid parallax issues. Increase overlap when shooting complex scenes like trees, crowds, or city architecture.
