Why Circle of Confusion Matters
The circle of confusion sets how strict “acceptably sharp” actually is, and it depends on sensor size, output size, and viewing distance. A tighter CoC produces a more conservative hyperfocal distance; a looser one lets you focus closer while still calling the far end sharp. The sensor presets here use commonly accepted values, but you can override them if you need a stricter standard for large prints.
